With the new PCS 7 curricula, basic PCS 7 knowledge can be taught to students of universities and technical colleges within approximately 60 hours (= 1 semester). This is achieved through the hands-on exercises and one plant simulation.

Settings are parameterized so that the PCS 7 process control system can use the information to autonomously create all the blocks in the automation stations required for communication between sensors, actuators and the control level.

In this module, readers will learn how to implement sequential controls with the help of sequencers. They will understand the structure and principle of operation of sequencers, and will learn about the corresponding design methods.
Readers will learn in this module how to structure and implement a graphical user interface for efficient process control.
In this module, readers will learn about the fundamentals of alarm logging. They will understand the purpose and the application areas of alarm logging systems and they will learn the resulting requirements of such systems. They will learn how to design a suitable and workable alarm management system in PCS 7.
In this module, readers will learn how to identify recurring structures and how to design templates. They will learn the difference between a process tag type and a model.
