SIMATIC IT Historian

Clear Information at every level Supporting Decisions and Monitoring Efficiency

Today’s business environment requires manufacturers to become ever more flexible and responsive
to customers‘ requirements. Manufacturing software technology is the core enabler to reach this goal.
SIMATIC IT, the Siemens Manufacturing Execution Systems offering, links into the control layer and
transforms data coming from various systems into the right level of granularity, as well supporting
smooth manufacturing operations, ensuring all the key functions needed to benchmark performance
and increase flexibility for optimum plant responsiveness.

SIMATIC IT Historian enables improved productivity and performance, while at the same time optimizing the production life cycle cost.SIMATIC IT Historian is a collection of software functionality for data management, plant performance analysis – Plant Information Management.

It collects, archives, groups, aggregates, validates, contextualizes and manipulates data from a variety of real-time historical and back-end data sources (automation systems, SCADA, LIMS and relational database systems).

SIMATIC IT Historian makes these process data available with the right granularity and contextualization for KPI (Key Performance Indicators) calculations, statistical analysis, quality assurance, benchmarking performance, decision support.

It fully supports 21 CFR Part 11 for Audit Trail and Electronic Signature for all archived data.

SIMATIC IT Historian is an individual component of SIMATIC IT MES, but can be scaled up without disrupting the existing configuration.

SIMATIC IT Historian includes two product options:

Provides dedicated functionality and a GUI for equipment efficiency analysis and root-cause analyses, such as data acquisition and aggregation into OEE KPIs (availability, performance, quality, OEE and many others, including custom KPIs).

Statistical process analysis in a manufacturing environment. SIMATIC IT SPC collects and stores process data, submits them to calculations or aggregation, represents them in graphical and easy to interpret formats for comparisons to expected results and triggers corrective actions in case of violations.
