Siemens Vacuum circuit-breakers control all switching duties in medium-voltage distribution systems - from small inductive and capacitive load currents to short-circuit currents. For special applications such as generators or in traction systems, particularly developed vacuum circuit-breakers are used, whose technical features exceed the required standard and have been tested accordingly. Our vacuum circuit-breakers offer the following:

  • Complete type tests according to IEC 62271-100 for the endurance classes C2, E2, M2 and S1

  • Additional type tests for special applications and according to local standards

  • Maintenance-free design throughout the entire service life up to at least 10,000 operating cycles


SION Lateral vacuum circuit-breaker

The new SION Lateral vacuum circuit breaker reliably switches arcing faults in secondary medium voltage power distributions. SION Lateral is available for various pole distances, as well as for left or right-mounted drives. The vacuum circuit-breaker is much more compact and lightweight than any comparable product. The device saves space and is much easier to transport and install. Panel builders can choose from a variety of high-voltage connection options for optimized bus mounting.

SION vacuum circuit-breaker 3AE

The SION circuit-breaker family is well prepared for all standard applications in the medium-voltage range – whether it be power supply or industrial companies. The compact SION 3AE vacuum circuit-breakers can be quickly and easily integrated into any switchgear, and offer all the features required for many years of operation and switching under short-circuit conditions. SION circuit-breakers can be installed in all customary, air-insulated medium-voltage switchgear assemblies. They can also be easily retrofitted into existing switchgear. The compact design – and specifically the small depth and width – allows for reduced diversity in switchgear panels.

3AH5 vacuum circuit-breakers

3AH5 vacuum circuit-breakers are used in all standard applications of the medium-voltage range – they switch e.g. overhead lines, cables, transformers, motors or reactors. The circuit-breakers are designed with the traditional post insulators, and fit into all customary medium-voltage switchgear from 7.2 kV to 36 kV. They control all switching duties and are suitable for many years of operation – therefore, they are very widely used.

3AH3 vacuum circuit-breakers as high-current circuit-breakers

3AH3 circuit-breakers are especially suitable for applications with high load currents up to 4000 A and high short-circuit currents up to 63 kA, covering the usual medium-voltage range from 7.2 to 40.5 kV. These high ratings are enabled by the post-insulator design.

3AK7 vacuum circuit-breakers for high-current applications

Compact design and high ratings: Due to its pole shells and a pole-center distance of only 210 mm, the 3AK vacuum circuit-breaker combines high mechanical resistance with high compactness, and is thus perfectly suitable for space-saving installation in compact switchgear. The circuit-breaker is available in an identical design as a high-current and generator circuit-breaker. As an OEM, you can rely on the same design for both standard and generator applications.
