In additional to standard applications, our vacuum circuit-breakers also cover generator and railway applications. Generator circuit-breakers from Siemens are used worldwide by multiple power supply and industrial companies in the most different types of power plants. They are tested according to IEEE C37.013, which is considered the leading standard, and are suitable for generator ratings of up to 450 MVA.
Our vacuum circuit-breakers offer the following:

  • Complete type tests according to IEC 62271-100 for the endurance classes C2, E2, M2 and S1

  • Additional type tests for special applications and according to local standards

  • Maintenance-free design throughout the entire service life up to at least 10,000 operating cycles

3AK763/765 vacuum circuit-breakers for generator applications

Compact design and high ratings: Due to its pole shells and a pole-center distance of only 210 mm, the 3AK vacuum circuit-breaker combines high mechanical resistance with high compactness, and is thus perfectly suitable for space-saving installation in compact switchgear. The 3AK763/765 vacuum circuit-breakers are designed and type-tested as generator circuit-breakers according to IEEE C37.013.

3AH3 vacuum circuit-breakers for generator applications

3AH37 und 3AH38 vacuum circuit-breakers

For generator switching applications, the 3AH36, 37 and 3AH38 circuit-breakers have also been tested according to IEEE C37.013 for load currents up to 12,000 A and short-circuit currents up to 100 kA.

 In many applications, the 3AH37/38 is today's standard for generator switching.

3AH36/37 vacuum circuit-breakers up to 100 kA in phase-segregated design

For generator switching applications with designs in which the phases are separated, a special "phase-segregated" design is used. For this, Siemens offers generator circuit-breakers / modules with short-circuit currents up to 100 kA and normal currents up to 12,500 A.

3AH4 vacuum circuit-breakers for a high number of operating cycles

3AH4 vacuum circuit-breakers are designed for an extremely high number of operating cycles up to 40.5 kV. They control up to 60,000/120,000 operating cycles. Thanks to minimum maintenance work such as lubricating the operating mechanisms after 10,000 operating cycles and replacing the vacuum interrupters after 30,000 operating cycles, the reliability of the circuit-breaker is maintained throughout the entire service life – despite heavy mechanical stress.

Application

3AH47 vacuum circuit-breakers for traction applications

The electrical power supply of railway systems requires circuit-breakers with special features. Not only are there usually single- or two-pole circuit-breakers necessary for supplying traction current – but also the high requirements regarding operational reliability and number of operating cycles reach far beyond that of standard applications. In addition, the operation of single-phase traction systems places higher demands on the dielectric strength.
