Flying saw

The flying saw application is a solution to simply and quickly implement flying saws or flying shears.
To make a cut, the flying saw is synchronized to the material at a precise position. The saw cut, cut or punch is made after synchronization. Once the cut has been completed, the equipment is stopped and traversed back to the initial position.
Typically, the flying saw is coupled with material through a machine encoder.

Function overview

  • Precise, position-based synchronization

  • Cutting at the print mark

  • Cutting to length

  • ā€œCreating a gap" in the cutting range

  • Immediate cut

It includes standardized functions for a flying saws, and can run on the following automation platforms:

For high performance motion control applications with central intelligence combined with SINAMICS S120 drive systems

For drive-based applications with process-related implementation of the closed-loop control in the SINAMICS S120 drive system using DCC (Drive Control Chart)
