Machines for continuous material webs (e.g. slitting and spooling machines for non-woven materials)

Fully automatic 10-speed line for efficient unwinding, slitting and publishing of nonwovens.

The topology diagram shows a distributed automation solution for an unwinding, slitting and traversing machine with up to ten spooling stations.

In this case, the control performs general machine logic functions such as operating mode management, interfacing I/O systems, (optional) safety technology (SIMATIC S7 F-CPU) and controlling auxiliary drives. The web-guiding drives receive a master velocity setpoint from the machine control, and move in velocity or position synchronism with this.

The internal machine network, i.e. the networking between central control, drives, I/O modules and peripheral systems is realized with PROFINET. In that case a data coupling can also be established to the machine management level. SIMATIC panels are used for the machine visualization.

The process-oriented closed-loop control (winding and traversing) is implemented in the SIMOTION D drive controller with SINAMICS 120. This minimizes processing times in the closed-loop control and reduces the load on the machine control system. Furthermore, additional solutions from the Converting Toolbox are also available. These include flying roll change, superimposed tension or dancer roll control etc.
