You can connect to a Telecontrol control center via the Telecontrol Interface Module TIM 1531 IRC using the telecontrol protocol SINAUT ST7. The Telecontrol Interface Module TIM 1531 IRC can also be used both as node and as master station. The engineering for the TIM module takes place in the TIA Portal. RTUs based on SIMATIC S7-1500 are suited, in particular, for complex telecontrol applications – such as in widely dispersed sewage and water treatment plants, district heating systems, as well as in oil and gas supply, power distribution and traffic engineering.

Details

RTUs are connected via public or private communication networks (Remote Networks). Connection to these networks is via an external industrial router, such as a SCALANCE M. This is connected to the Ethernet interface of the TIM module.

TIM 1531 IRC has three Industrial Ethernet interfaces and a serial interface for the connection of a modem. It offers various redundant transmission paths (e.g. Internet and cellular network) to the higher-level stations. The TIM can nevertheless transmit data even if the primary connection fails.

The TIM module features a processor and a RAM memory for the interim storage of max. 100,000 messages with time stamps. The data are stored temporarily in the case of faults in the communications route. This avoids a loss of data. As soon as the connection is reestablished, the buffered values are automatically transmitted in the correct historical sequence to the control center.

TIM 1531 IRC supports both cyclical and event-driven data transmission. In addition, it offers an e-mail function, to inform maintenance personnel automatically about previously defined events – such as transgressions of threshold values. The TIM module also offers extensive diagnostic functions – including logging of sent and received data for detailed analyses.

All functions of the TIM module are configured in the TIA Portal with the STEP 7 Professional V14 SP1 engineering software. "Data point configuration" can be used to implement a cyclic or event-controlled transfer of measured values, setpoints or alarms with only a few operations and without any programming work. The telecontrol modules for modular RTUs based on SIMATIC controllers have a uniform look and feel in the TIA Portal. This makes the engineering even more efficient.
