Description

The SCALANCE M product range includes mobile wireless routers as well as routers for wired communication. These industrial routers can be used universally in telecontrol, teleservice, and any other application for industrial remote communication. Connection to remote networks – public or private communication networks – is achieved via SCALANCE M industrial routers. Communication takes place using GSM, UMTS, LTE or wired via ADSL and SHDSL. For secure remote access to plants and machinery, these industrial routers are easy to integrate into the SINEMA Remote Connect management platform for remote networks.

Wireless connection to remote networks

The use of globally available, public mobile telephone networks is a cheaper solution than building a corporate wireless network (e.g., Industrial Wireless LAN). It is also appropriate if no other transmission medium (e.g., dedicated line/telephone network) is available. However it requires sufficiently strong signal reception at the location where it is used.

Using the following SCALANCE M mobile wireless routers, both stationary stations and mobile users, e.g. railway and road vehicles as well as coastal vessels and inland navigation vessels, can be connected to a central control and monitoring system. The high data rates permit transmission of bulk data or images in real time. Depending on the application and availability, communication can take place via GSM, UMTS or LTE.

Wired connection to remote networks

The SHDSL and ADSL routers of the SCALANCE M product family support the cost-effective and secure connection of Ethernet-based subnets and automation devices. The connection can be effected using existing two-wire or multicore cables or via wired telephone or DSL networks.
