Safety Considerations

- for a safe plant operation

Safety considerations can be made based on various methods:

The HAZOP – HAZard and OPerability study developed by ICI is described within the IEC 61882 (HAZOP studies – Application guide). In Germany it is known as the PAAG Method (prognosis of deviation, finding the cause, assessment of impacts, counter measures) of the Berufsgenossenschaft RCI (industrial insurance company).

The “Hoechster Gefahrenanalyse (Sicherheitsgespräch)” (hazard analysis and safety review method of the former company of Hoechst) concentrates on plant safety. In contains elements of checklist procedures, failure mode and effect analysis and PAAG. It is described in the practical guidelines for the TRGS 300 of 1994.

The principal approach is comparable for all methods:

  • Determination / compilation of all available (pre-) information and basic data

  • Definition / differentiation of the system

  • Definition of safe process parameters

  • Risk analysis

  • Recommendation and planning of measures

  • Assessment of the remaining risk

We support you with a safety review or a HAZOP regarding:

  • Plant desing / construction

  • Plant modification (substances, process, equipment, operating conditions, raw materials etc.)

  • Changes to the utility units (e.g. exhaust/ventilation system, energy supply)

  • Implementation of new knowledge

  • Consequences to incidents happened

  • Requiremens of third parties (expert, authority)

  • Update of safety reviews
