SIMATIC ET 200M Interface Modules

Description

The various S7-300 modules in the distributed I/O system ET 200M are connected to the bus system via the interface module - either to the well-proven PROFIBUS fieldbus or to PROFINET, the open Industrial Ethernet standard.
Interface modules are available in standard as well as failsafe versions. For higher requirements regarding plant availability high feature IMs can be employed redundantly. All IM feature channel specific diagnostics.

Interface modules for PROFIBUS connection

IM 153-1 Standard

The IM 153-1 is one reasonably priced version that is best suited for most applications in the manufacturing environment. It permits the use of up to eight S7-300 I/O modules.
 

IM 153-2 High Feature

For higher requirements in manufacturing technology, such as the use of F-technology or the highest performance in conjunction with clock synchronization, the IM 153-2 High Feature is available. This IM is also designed for use with the PCS 7 in the field of manufacturing applications. This IM can be redundantly used and supports typical functions as they are required in the control field. These include, for example, clock synchronization or time stamping with an accuracy of up to 1ms.

Interface Module for PROFINET connection

IM 153-4 PN

The IM 153-4 PN interface module is used to connect the modular ET 200M I/O device via copper line to the PROFINET fieldbus. It handles communication between the modules and the higher-level PROFINET I/O controller autonomously. Up to 12 I/O modules from the S7-300 range of programmable controllers can be connected to the interface module. No slot rules apply.
 

IM 153-4 PN HF

The High Feature (HF) variant of the IM 153-4 PN Interface module is used for connectiing failsafe I/O modules as well as intelligent field devices (HART). The "Shared Device" functionality enables you to share the submodules of an IO-Device between different IO controllers. The IM 153-4 PN HF supports the Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP). Redundant transmission lines (ring topology) ensure that upon failure of one transmission line an alternative communication path is made available.
You can also use PROFINET Isochronous Real-Time communication (IRT), a synchronized transmission procedure for the cyclic exchange of IRT data between PROFINET devices.
